Scripture Reading: Jeremiah 6:1-7:29 / Philippians 4:2-23 / Proverbs 24:5-14
My email host scans all of my incoming emails and places those that are considered to be SPAM into a Quarantine Report. This daily report gives me the option to view them and determine their validity. If they are legitimate, I can release them, categorize them as a trusted sender and future messages from that sender will be placed in my inbox and not quarantined. If the message is SPAM, I can delete them and/or block any further emails from the sender.
The purpose of the quarantine is to stop any junk, inappropriate and SPAM messages from reaching my “inbox”. Quarantine gives me the ability to easily and quickly identify unwanted emails. It also protects me from thousands of unnecessary, harmful or potentially damaging emails.
Did you know that God has a spiritual quarantine system in place for us? Paul writes, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6,7)
Our lives are being continually bombarded by the devil’s attacks of doubt, difficulty and discouragement. The enemy directs his SPAM towards our vulnerable hearts and unsuspecting minds. These harmful attacks come with such intensity and frequency that we are left confused, frazzled and fearful.
God’s spiritual quarantine system is then engaged as we turn to Him in prayer and intercession. As we seek Him, God raises a protective wall of truth around our minds and covers our hearts with the comforting peace of Christ. God categorizes all of the SPAM, quarantines it and gives us a report that surpasses our limited understanding.
God stops all of the attacks before they reach our hearts and minds. His protection is so powerful and effective that we are often unaware of any attacks. He does not leave us defenseless but graciously and powerfully protects us. We live in the fullness of His protective presence and peace.
Paul’s incoming message for us today, “Rejoice in the Lord always, I will say it again, Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.” (4:4,5) So rejoice! God’s presence and nearness alleviates and displaces all fears and anxiousness. These are legitimate and life changing messages…you can add God to your trusted sender!
