Scripture Reading: Isaiah 17:1-19:25 / 2 Corinthians 10:1-18 / Psalm 106:16-31
Weapons of Mass Destruction are weapons designed to kill and bring great harm to a large number of people. Man made structures such as buildings and natural structures like mountains are also impacted or destroyed as well. There are a wide variety of destructive forms such as chemical, biological, or nuclear. The world cowers in fear of the possibility of their use and there is a constant policing of their whereabouts.
Despite their formidable power, there is a weapon that is greater. It has the ability to break the hold of powerful strongholds. Its purpose is not only to destroy but to set free. These weapons are not manufactured by man but designed by God and made available to us! “The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.” (2 Corinthians 10:4)
The enemy of our souls and the accuser of the brethren attempts to rob, kill and destroy us. But the bondage of satan is broken and his power is defeated. The power to overcome him is not of us but from above. The same power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead, lives in us…Greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world!
Paul writes, “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” (10:5) The deceptive half-truths of satan are defeated by the eternal truth of God’s Word. Satan must always bow to God’s Word, Christ’s Name, and the authority that God has placed in us as His children.
When tempted in the wilderness, Jesus rebuked satan with the Word of God. We must also know the truth…and the truth WILL set us free. Like Eve, we cannot afford to have a conversation with satan. Truth is not determined through a discovery process of logic and feelings. Our perspectives are flawed by a sinful world and selfish heart.
Every deceptive, destructive and doubt ridden thought is to be measured against God’s Truth. We can bring every tempting and lustful thought into the light of Truth. God enlightens our eyes to see sin for what it truly is...bondage. We then call upon the resurrection power of Christ to raise us above a grave of bondage so we can live in freedom and victory! The cross and resurrection of Christ is the greatest weapon this world will ever experience and not necessarily for the purpose of destruction but for deliverance…The Weapon of Mass Deliverance!
