Paul praises the Corinthians for their generous attitude. The Corinthian church had a giving heart and spirit; quickly helping others in need. Paul said their generosity inspired others to action. (2 Cor. 9:2) He understood churches and believers faced attacks from without and within. Even for us today, there are the dangers of greed, selfishness or fear from within and the economic climate from without. Paul understood the threat of a begrudging (a reluctant and bitter) spirit so he sent leaders to Corinth in order to dismantle worldly attitudes and foster Godly principle and perspectives. May our giving reflect the generous heart of God who loves us and has given us all things. God is quick and faithful to bless a cheerful giver…it’s not an issue of the wallet but the heart!

What does giving look like?
